Our Approach

About Raven Outcomes

At Raven Outcomes, we believe that Indigenous communities know what their people need best. That’s why we use a new way of funding—one where you lead, and we support.

This approach is called outcomes finance. It brings together money from private investors, governments, and philanthropy to support projects that matter to your community, like fixing homes, improving health, or creating jobs. You tell us the problem, and we help design and fund a solution that fits your values and priorities.

Peguis and Fisher River: Comfortable Homes, Brighter Futures

In Peguis and Fisher River First Nations, leaders knew what their communities needed: more comfortable homes, lower energy bills, and local job opportunities. But they also knew the usual funding didn’t fit. They wanted something better—something that respected their vision and supported long-term change.

With support from Raven Outcomes, the Nations created a project to install 125 geothermal systems in homes. These systems help keep homes warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Community members were trained and hired to do the work, gaining skills and good jobs.

The project was funded using outcomes finance. That means investors paid up front, and the government only paid once the project showed real results. And it did.

“We didn’t want a handout. We wanted a hand in shaping our future. With Raven, we found a partner that respected our values and backed our solutions.”
— Community Representative, Peguis First Nation

This was the first project of its kind in Canada. It showed what’s possible when communities lead the way—and when funding supports what actually works.

FAQs

How does outcomes finance work?

Outcomes finance is a new, community-first way to fund projects like housing, clean energy, or health. Your community leads the work. Raven helps design the project and brings in funding partners. Investors provide the money up front, and the government agrees to repay them only if the project succeeds.

It’s not a grant, and it’s not a loan—it’s a partnership. Your community doesn’t carry the risk, and you don’t have to pay anything back. This model helps bring real results to life, with everyone working together to support your goals.

Do we need to have a project ready?

No. You just need to know what problem you want to solve—like clean energy transition, or type-2 diabetes. We’ll help with planning and design, and build the solution together.

What kinds of projects qualify?

Anything that improves outcomes for your people—housing, health, clean energy, employment, education, and more.

Can this work for small communities?

Yes. Whether you’re a large Nation or a small community, this model can be adapted to your needs. We’ve worked with communities of all sizes.

Is this culturally safe?

Yes. Raven is Indigenous-led. We follow traditional protocols and work in partnership with your governance and values every step of the way.

How do we get started?

Simple. Just reach out via our contact form. We’ll connect with your representatives, explain how it works, and begin the process of exploring what’s possible.
